How We’re Working to Stop Poverty

Here’s how the Thrive model ends hidden hunger.

Our Approach

From around the world, people join the Thrive Institute to learn the Life Gardens growing methods. They then go out and train others in villages, urban zones, schools, orphanages, prisons, HIV groups, hospitals and more.

As a data-driven organization, we’re rigorously monitoring the effectiveness of every program, project and pilot that we implement — with one goal in mind: to end poverty by ending hidden hunger.

Programs

At the core of Thrive’s programs is our training. We run training programs ranging from 5-day workshops to 3-year Master Organic Agricultural Trainer programs. Participants and graduates go on to establish and lead others to create Life Gardens where they live and work.

We invest the money we raise into both our Growing Health Training programs and our “1st Seed Package,” which includes the tools, seeds and supplies for a community to start a Life Garden.

During moments of uncertainty, restrictions and social distancing, finding creative ways to mobilize our training and impact is more vital than ever.

The Thrive Institute is the first online organic gardening and nutrition training created for developing communities. It’s an incredible response to the impacts COVID has had on food security, health, and income challenges.

We partner with some of the best community development charities and organizations in the world addressing poverty. Our partners are carefully selected and deliver incredible impact. We scale-up and optimize their impact with our methodology.

The organizations that we choose to partner with have demonstrated a community-centred approach, excellent financial reporting and a deep knowledge of asset-based community development (ABCD approach). They are some of the best in the world at community development and ending poverty, together.

We’re always looking for new partners. If your organization needs a sustainable solution to ending hidden hunger, get in touch.

Where We Work

This map shows Thrive’s Active Life Garden projects as of September, 2024. It depicts the areas in which we have trainers, community leaders and partner Champions who have been trained by Thrive.

Long Term Vision

We believe that there will be a day when every person on the planet has access not just to food, but to real nutrition. A day when we can feed the world abundantly and sustainably, renewing the soil and our atmosphere.

Our vision is to empower 1 million people in the developing world to lead healthy and sustainable lives by training them to grow nutritious and income-generating whole foods.

Stories of Hope

Our time in the field gives us a personal view of what it’s like to have nutrition and health for the first time. The mothers, children and communities that we’ve met inspire our ideas and solutions. Every one of them has a story worth sharing.

Life Gardens changed the lives of Joyce, John, Mara and Jacob. Read their stories.

You Can Help

If we only focus on filling bellies, we won’t solve the root problems of poverty.

To fight disease, grow strong and reach their full potential, people first need the nutrition that only an abundance of whole, living foods can deliver.

All of our efforts to solve problems of shelter, education, water, economics and healthcare will only get traction when the poor have equal access to nutrition.
