My name is Thanglun Bolsom.
I am from Ichaigojang village in Kangpokpi district.
I joined a training by Thrive for Good on how to do organic farming, and it changed my approach completely.
By applying their methods in my farming, I can clearly see the difference.
My crops have grown fairly well, not only that, but the produce and the crops that I have been able to harvest have been a lot more compared to earlier.
When I compare my harvest from a bigger land before this, I have realized that dividing the land, planting more crops, and practicing organic farming have given me more and better harvests.
What makes me proud as an organic farmer is, firstly, to tell them that it’s all organic compost and that no chemicals were used in this, the satisfaction of telling people that only organic methods were used to harvest these crops.
Secondly, when people know that our vegetables are fully organic, it really draws them in! There is a growing demand for chemical-free produce.
And thirdly, even on a small piece of land, I get a higher yield compared to others.
Since I started organic farming, my income has increased. Before this, I earned only 20,000-30,000 ($300-$450) a season. But in the last season, I earned 143,000 ($2,200) from one harvest.
For me, organic farming is about so much more than just growing food.
To be honest, using organic products is far more beneficial for children as chemical-free produce will fuel better growth and development, not only in the physical sense but also in their mental and emotional development.
Organic farming isn’t just a method – it’s a commitment to a better future.
